Posledních pár let nepatří zrovna mezi ty milované a její valuace dostává pěkně za uši, což ji zase ale cenou a výnosností pomalu posouvá mezi zajímavou možnost k nákupu.

Zisk na akcii má být letos stejný, jako byl v roce 2016. Od té doby inflace kolem 25%, alespoň ta vylhaná, státem vyhlášená. Tedy firmě se propadl reálný zisk minimálně o čtvrtinu od roku 2016. Do toho byla ta akcie extrémně drahá. Obyklé premium oproti S&P 500 kolem 30-50%. Tedy lidem došla trpělivost, platit o 40% navíc za stagnující firmu.

CEO, co byl u firmy právě od roku 2016, jde právě od koryta a bude na novém CEO firmu otočit a dostat ze stagnace.

Hormel announced that CEO Jim Snee, who has led the company since 2016, will retire at the end of fiscal 2025 (ending in October). The board has formed a search committee to identify a successor, and Snee will remain in an advisory capacity through midway of fiscal 2027.

Why it matters: Over the last two years, most consumer packaged food companies' shares have fallen as struggling consumers have led to lower volumes and increased promotion. Hormel's 35% decline is among the worst performers, so it will be key to see how Snee's successor may steer Hormel's strategy.

We think the next CEO faces a couple of key challenges. First, performance has been weighed down by volatility in Hormel's commodity turkey business. Second, Planters has faced operational challenges that have prevented it from delivering as hoped when it was acquired.
One thing we wouldn't expect a successor to change is Hormel's dividend prioritization, given its streak of 59 years of increasing dividends. Currently offering a 3.7% yield, we expect Hormel to continue to fund an increasing dividend through our forecast period.
The bottom line: We maintain our $31 fair value estimate, narrow moat rating, and Exemplary Capital Allocation Rating. We think shares look fairly valued at this time.

Our Exemplary Capital Allocation Rating is based on our assessment of the company's sound balance sheet, exceptional investment track record, and appropriate shareholder distributions. However, if a new CEO is unable to drive a recovery in Planters, we'd reconsider our rating.
For consumer packaged food exposure, we see better upside in no-moat Conagra, narrow-moat General Mills, and no-moat Smucker, which all trade in 4-star territory.
